Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why would I want to take the time to bake my own snacks?A: Baking our products is a 1/2 hour investment at the beginning of a week, which then provides you with the following benefits for the rest of the week:
- A Fresh, Wholesome, and Delicious replacement for stale tasting or overly processed, packaged snacks; you can eat our products as a breakfast (even a warm breakfast when toasted!), or as an anytime snack.
- A customizable snack --add your own goodies to make them the way you like it. See our recipes section for some ideas to get you started.
- An Eco-friendly way to snack by reducing non-recyclable packaging waste (e.g. mylar, plastic...)
Q: How long will my Bake-at-Home Snacks keep?A: We recommend storing the Power Snacks and Cocoa Squares in the fridge in a sealed container - they will stay good for 5+ days (and can be reheated in a toaster (power snacks) or by microwaving for 10 seconds (cocoa squares). The Granola bites can be stored in a covered container for 1+ week. All products can also be frozen for longer storage. We always recommend refreshing in a toaster.
Q: Can I take my Bake-at-Home Snacks 'on the go' with me? What do I wrap them in when I do this?A: Our favorite way to carry Bake-at-Home Snacks is in a small size re-useable container. Laptop Lunches is a great company that offers a convenient and re-useable way to carry all kinds of food. Or, follow this link to find some containers that are very convenient: The Container Store. Another option is to carry several in a small "Ziploc" style plastic bag (we like to wash and re-use earth friendly corn "plastic" bags). Alternatively, you can wrap them in re-useable Aluminum foil.
Q: Do I have to bake the whole box of Bake-at-Home Snacks at once?A: The product was meant to be baked all at once. However, you can also measure half of the box (~6 oz, or 1 cup + 2 tbsp), and cut the recipe on the back in half -- then bake in a smaller pan, or by dividing the batter into individual mini-loaf, or muffin pan cavities.
Q: How should I cut my snacks? If you are making snacks in an 8x8 pan, we suggest you cut the batch into 9-12 bars for a good size, substantial snack. Of course there are many other options.
Alternatively, you can put the batter into a petite-loaf pan of already shaped individual servings - here is a link to one such pan: Amazon
Q: Do you use Organic ingredients?A: At the present time, we use Organic Rolled Oats. By weight, this makes our products rougly 30% organic. All other ingredients are natural and Non-Genetically modified. As our business grows, we would like to include more organic ingredients in the mix.
Q: I am allergic to nuts, can I eat your products?A: Though there are no nuts in our mixes, the product was produced in a facility that may have also contained tree nuts at some time. If you are severely sensitive we do not recommend eating the product.
Q: Judging from the ingredients, it seems like I could make more than just the stated product with your mixes; do you have any recipe suggestions?A: Yes, please see our recipe section for ideas. If you develop your own recipe please share it with us and we will post it.
Q: Do you sell the mix in larger sizes for cafes, cafeterias and kitchens?Yes, if you are interested, please write us in this form.
